To protect free speech, this Constitution does allow independent groups to advocate for issues or candidates. This advocacy, however, is not permitted to be done in coordination with any candidate or their campaign. This provides imperfect protection of our democratic process, because it still allows those with the most resources to amplify their freedom of speech above the rest.
